About the Job
The System Administrator is responsible for the design, provisioning, installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of the virtual server cluster, windows systems, and related architecture. This individual ensures that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures are monitored and operating to IT departmental standards. In addition, the System Administrator is responsible for overall backup and recovery strategies as well as disaster recovery of both Corporate and plant location systems and data.
Essential Functions & Major Responsibilities
- VMWare management for multiple datacenter clusters.
- Managing the Virtual servers in the environment -Manage Microsoft Domain, Operating Systems, and ERP.
- Design, Implement, and Manage SAN and replication storage devices for the Company’s primary data center to enable robust disaster recovery.
- Maintain, implement, and support the company VOIP network.
- Create and maintain documentation as it relates to network configuration, network mapping, processes, and service records.
- Perform continuous maintenance and patching of the Company’s systems to ensure their smooth and reliable operation for fulfilling business objectives and processes.
- Practice systems asset management, including maintenance of systems component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.
- Monitor and test performance and provide performance statistics and reports.
- Oversee new and existing equipment, hardware, and software patching upgrades.
- Recommend and Design solutions scalability, growth, and redundancy into current systems.
- Develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures, and associated training plans for system administration and disaster recovery.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Working technical knowledge of e-mail servers, program, and platform operating systems, including MS Exchange and MS 365.
- VMWare Clusters, Nimble Storage, Replication and High Availability procedures.
- VMWare Site Recover Manager replicating to a DR facility.
- Microsoft Windows management, including Active Directory and Remote Desktop Services.
- Working technical knowledge of current messaging systems software, protocols, and standards.
- Hands-on software and hardware troubleshooting experience.
- Experience with database management.
- Good understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives.
- Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
- Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills.
- Ability to conduct research into e-mail software issues and products as required.
- Ability to present ideas and solutions in user-friendly language.
- Highly self-motivated and directed.
- Keen attention to detail.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
- Strong customer service orientation.
- Understanding of local and wide area networking.
- Understanding of network security processes such as zero trust and multifactor authentication.
Education/Experience
- College diploma in the field of computer science and/or 2 years Systems Administration experience.
- 3 years of experience managing and delivering operating systems and associated hardware.
