About the Job

The Senior Financial Analyst (SFA) will assist with the development of the monthly forecasts, annual budget, strategic planning, and compilation/analysis of financial information to provide management with decision making tools.  The SFA will balance ad hoc projects with recurring month-end financial analysis support.

Essential Functions & Major Responsibilities
  • Prepare high quality, accurate, on time, insight driven financial analysis and reporting.
  • Define and enhance management reporting packages and financial metrics to facilitate achievement of financial and operational goals.
  • Drive and support implementation of report automation.
  • Reviews complex financial accounting work processes, systems, and procedures for efficient workflow and conformity with accounting principles.
  • Develop and maintain rigorous controls for consistently accurate data.
  • Gathers and compiles information on processes, organizational structure, computer technology, policies, and procedures to develop and ensure appropriate forecasting strategies.
  • Timely prepare and submit regulatory reporting.
  • Enhance the accuracy and usability of the monthly forecasts and annual plan.
  • Prepare models used to determine key accounting estimates and adapt with changes in data / circumstances.
  • Evaluate historical and current financial data to understand and prepare analyses on product and business profitability.
  • Interface with the Finance and Accounting teams as well as internal and external audit teams to answer questions on forecasts and actual results.

  • Travel occasionally required; less than 5%.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong organization skills, ability to multi-task and re-arrange priorities as needed, monitor workflow in meeting critical deadline and project timetables.
  • Must be PC proficient and able to thrive in a fast-pace setting. Solid understanding of automated accounting systems (e.g. SAP) and highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills and customer service skills required.
  • Regularly contributes to the development of new job practices, techniques, controls and standards.
  • Receives general direction for work that is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives. Participates in determining objectives of assignment; plans, schedules, and arranges own activities to accomplish those objectives.
  • Performs work with minimal direction and exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignment.
  • Represents organization as a prime contact on projects. Interacts with senior management personnel on Ad-hoc reporting and creating new ongoing reports.
  • Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Ability to work on complex tasks independently and in a team environment.
Education/Experience
  • BA/BS in Business, Finance or Accounting
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant analytical experience; preference given to candidates with experience at a manufacturing company.
  • Experience in the application of GAAP and internal controls.
  • Candidate must be solutions oriented and knowledgeable with implementing and establishing financial analyses.
