SUMMARY OF JOB PURPOSE:

The Field Representative provides expert advice to the Operations Manager and makes recommendations that are in the best interest of Northwest Pipe Company.  The Field Representative performs short- and long-term planning Reports to the Operations Manager and represents the best interest of Northwest Pipe Company.  The field Representative will perform complex supervisory, administrative and professional work in planning, organizing, and overseeing the delivery of water transmission steel pipe. Provides expertise to internal and external customers relative to the finished products and evaluates the internal and external customer needs by performing the following duties.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Acts as filed liaison between Company, Contractor, Field Inspector and trucking companies.
  • Observe and record issues that affect delivery of Northwest Pipe products using Track.net and other resources.
  • Notify inconsistencies with job specifications with contractor and notify Operations Manager when contractor does not take action.
  • Review field services checklist with contractors at kick off meetings.
  • Create notes of conversations with contractors relative to field representative observations.
  • Determine field representative work procedures, prepare work schedules, and expedite workflow.
  • Follows STOP safety procedures and policies and ensures that any Northwest Pipe Company employee follow safety policies procedures.
  • Analyzes issues that affect delivery of Northwest Pipe products and resolves matters in the best interest of Northwest Pipe Company and the Saginaw Facility.
  • Ensures duties are performed for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures.
  • Studies and implements company policies and procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness of pipeline delivery operations.
  • Documents and maintains Non Conformance Reports (NCR).
  • Exercises judgment to establish a good rapport among customers and Northwest Pipe employees.
  • Prepares composite reports from individual reports of external and internal customers.
  • Listen to customer complaints and negotiate solutions that represent the best interest of Northwest Pipe.
  • Determine applicable codes, regulations, and requirements for assigned projects.
  • Reviews plans and drawings to insure correctness as they pertain to product delivery.
  • Uses interpersonal communication skills to assure customer needs are met
  • Observe the repair of NWP products by NWP employees as needed.
  • Implements and monitors operating procedures to meet company goals and expectations.
  • On occasion delivers rush or missing parts to job sites as needed.
  • Comply with quality policies/procedures, ISO procedures and SOX procedures.
  • Travels as needed to installation sites as a representative of the company to ensure proper delivery procedures are being followed according to the work order, construction and engineering standards.

  • This position may interact within all levels of the Northwest Pipe organization.  Additionally, this position may have contact with business partners, customers, vendors, visitors and / or government agencies.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or five plus years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
