Introducing SuperMain

The First Wastewater Force Main System Engineered with the Strength and Safety of Steel.

Steel Pipe Delivers Superb Performance in Water and Wastewater Applications.
Available in lengths up to 60', steel's strength, performance, and light weight deliver the combined advantages of high-pressure carrying capacity, lower handling costs, ease of installation, and longer, lower-cost service life. The strongest, safest pipe material available- steel- has provided decades of trouble-free performance.

Meeting The Challenges of Aggressive Wastewater Environments.
Until now, the corrosive nature of sewage has limited the use of steel in force main applications. These systems typically flow full and often at low velocities, promoting bacterial activity and the build up of hydrogen sulfide (H2S). This bacteria and acid cycle know as Microbiologically Influenced Corrosion (MIC) can literally eat away sewer pipe. The challenge in building durable steel force main systems is to provide a protective barrier between the dirty water and the pipe, thereby neutralizing the danger of bacterial attack (MIC) while at the same time protecting the steel pipe from conventional corrosion considerations.

Corropipe II Wasteliner AM Protection Makes SuperMain Systems Impervious to Corrosion
Formulated with 100% solids polyurethane, Corropipe II WasteLiner AM provides superior chemical resistance, corrosion resistance, and toughness. Manufactured by Madison Chemical Industries Inc., WasteLiner AM is a proven polyurethane barrier that protects against bacterial attacks. In addition, WasteLiner AM uses an EPA-approved anti-microbial agent that shows a complete bactericidal activity on contact against various Thiobacillus species involved in MIC corrosion of steel substrates.

As a result, SuperMain systems with WasteLiner AM corrosion protection offer the most viable lining solution available for aggressive sewage conditions. Corropipe II WasteLiner AM adds decades of performance to steel pipe.

Non-welded Joints Ensure Quick Installation of SuperMain Systems:
When a tight construction timeline exists, steel pipe is a great alternative. Construction can continue on schedule without having to slow down for joint welding when using an O-ring gasket system.

Standard JointSuperMain joints are strong, easy to assemble and take apart, leakproof, and economical for pipe up to 72” in diameter. The system joins bell and spigot pipe ends using an O-ring gasket to form a watertight seal.

Retrained JointSpecially engineered restrained joints are used where linear expansion and contraction demand the security of an advanced mechanical coupling. End rings are pre-welded to the pipe ends where the coupling and gaskets will fasten. This makes the pipe end preparation easy and strong and also transfers almost no moment load to the pipe.

*Allowable Depth of Cover (H) using the Iowa formula and a ring of deflection of 5%. The Iowa formula per AWWA Manual M-11:

∆x = Dl (K W r 3/(EI+0.061 E’ r 3)), where:

∆x = horizontal deflection of pipe in inches
Dl = deflection lag factor (1.0)
K = bedding constant (0.1)
W = load per unit of pipe length (lb./linear inch of pipe)
r = pipe radius in inches
E = modulus of elasticity (30,000,000 psi)
I = pipe wall transverse moment of inertia (t3/12)
E' = modulus of soil reaction (PSI)
