Introducing SuperMain
The First Wastewater Force Main System Engineered with the Strength and Safety of Steel.Steel Pipe Delivers Superb Performance in Water and Wastewater Applications.
Available in lengths up to 60', steel's strength, performance, and light weight deliver the combined advantages of high-pressure carrying capacity, lower handling costs, ease of installation, and longer, lower-cost service life. The strongest, safest pipe material available- steel- has provided decades of trouble-free performance.
Meeting The Challenges of Aggressive Wastewater Environments.
Until now, the corrosive nature of sewage has limited the use of steel in force main applications. These systems typically flow full and often at low velocities, promoting bacterial activity and the build up of hydrogen sulfide (H2S). This bacteria and acid cycle know as Microbiologically Influenced Corrosion (MIC) can literally eat away sewer pipe. The challenge in building durable steel force main systems is to provide a protective barrier between the dirty water and the pipe, thereby neutralizing the danger of bacterial attack (MIC) while at the same time protecting the steel pipe from conventional corrosion considerations.
Corropipe II Wasteliner AM Protection Makes SuperMain Systems Impervious to Corrosion
Formulated with 100% solids polyurethane, Corropipe II WasteLiner AM provides superior chemical resistance, corrosion resistance, and toughness. Manufactured by Madison Chemical Industries Inc., WasteLiner AM is a proven polyurethane barrier that protects against bacterial attacks. In addition, WasteLiner AM uses an EPA-approved anti-microbial agent that shows a complete bactericidal activity on contact against various Thiobacillus species involved in MIC corrosion of steel substrates.
Madison's Corropipe II WasteLiner AM offers synergistic protection that modifies the wastewater environment while protecting the steel substrate. As a result, SuperMain systems with WasteLiner AM corrosion protection offer the most viable lining solution available for aggressive sewage conditions. Corropipe II WasteLiner AM adds decades of performance to steel pipe.- Long Lasting: Based on millions of square feet of steel lining experience, extensive material performance testing, and almost a quarter century of coating history, Madison Chemical conservatively estimates that WasteLiner AM will provide between 50 and 75 years of internal corrosion protection for steel pipe operating under typical municipal sewer applications.
- Zero Failure History: To date, there has never been a coating-related failure of a Madison Chemical material applied to the interior of any type of wastewater piping.
- Excellent Chemical Resistance: WasteLiner AM is resistant to all chemicals commonly found in municipal and industrial sewers including H2SO4, H2S, HCI, NaCl, and HaOH.
- Tough, Flexible, Damage Resistant: Tough enough to resist damage during shipping and handling, WasteLiner AM can withstand 20% deflection without cracking or damage.
- High Flow Rates: WasteLiner AM cures to a mirror-like finish to provide a Hazen-Williams "C" factor of 150 and greater.
- Superior Corrosion Resistance: WasteLiner AM's tenacious adhesion to the steel substrate, combined with a .005" permeability rating, resists the force of undercutting corrosion.
- Self-Inspecting: WasteLiner AM provides greater longevity than conventional systems because coating application problems are easily found and repaired before installation.
- Easy to apply in the shop or in the field: WasteLiner AM cures instantly and can be applied to any desired thickness.
- Environmentally friendly: WasteLiner AM's cured coating is non-toxic and meets the requirements for disposal in common landfills. SuperMain safety coupling and restraint system assures strong, leakproof performance.
- Easily Inspectable Color: WasteLiner AM’s lining provides excellent visibility for remote video inspection.
When a tight construction timeline exists, steel pipe is a great alternative. Construction can continue on schedule without having to slow down for joint welding when using an O-ring gasket system.
SuperMain Joint Advantages:
- Closure plates: Simplifies installation and enables the coupling to seal with fewer bolts and assists pipe alignment.
- Low profile: Permits the coupling to pass through restricted openings and allows assembly in close quarters.
- O-Ring Gaskets: Proven effective during more than 70 years of use.
- Sealing Pad: Ensures leak-proof seal on joints.
- Sleeves: Designed for high and low pressure usage, maximum pipe protection, and for installation on pipe ends with typical roundness tolerances.
- Restraint rings: Welded to the pipe ends, they provided a means by which the coupling restrains the pipe within the pipe joint.
